The Thank You Economy: How Business Must Adapt to Social Media
Viewer advisory: This program contains explicit language. Wine Library TV’s Gary Vaynerchuk gives his no-holds-barred take on how modern businesses must adapt to thrive in a social media-driven culture. —– On November 5, L2 and NYU Stern hosted its second-annual Innovation Forum at The Morgan Library in New York City. The full-day event addressed innovation in digital marketing and implications for prestige brands. L2 Forums are the largest gatherings of prestige professionals in North America. Forums draw C-level executives and top marketing and digital talent from prestige brands; leading agencies, media, and technology firms; and innovators and academics. In addition, 25 percent of seats are reserved for students from the nation’s top business and arts graduate programs. Gary Vaynerchuk was born in Babruysk, USSR (today Belarus) on November 14, 1975 and emigrated to the US in 1978. He graduated from Mount Ida College in Newton, MA. From a platform as co-owner and Director of Operations of Wine Library, a wine retail shop in Springfield, New Jersey, Vaynerchuk gained fame as the host of Wine Library TV, a daily internet webcast on the subject of wine. Called the “king of social media”, he is one of the first Facebook users to max out his friend limit, with over 17000 pending friend requests. He is in the top 100 people followed on Twitter and was the keynote speaker at events like the 2009 South by Southwest Interactive conference and the New Media and Web 2.0 expos.

You are shockingly handsome! Fantastic stuff.
Gary is ON POINT…beyond the infotainment, his content is dead on!
I love Gary….and loved his books.
Those that don’t get what Gary is saying is just that, they don’t get it. For those that do, bravo Gary! Keep your message loud and clear. I’m reading your book ‘The Thank You Economy”
@RoyalRoyale
So tell me what was the point of the talk, and please exclude anything that is patently obvious.
@rubberbaby00 This guy is saying the internet is “shallow in content”… You couldn’t be more wrong.
This is why I love Gary V.
Can’t way to read Gary’s new book!
The Rothschilds are enslaving the People of the US via the fraudulent criminal conspiracy known as the illegal, unConstitutional Federal Reserve. The entire US government is now simply a puppet of the Rothschild banking dynasty.
“End the Fed”
Every political candidate must be evaluated based upon this single all telling crucial issue. You are either with the People or you are with the Rothschilds and their agents, the international bankers.
This is the new American litmus test.
Gary … Love you message and appreciate what you’re doing
Donna
Gary, just one question (Disclaimer- I’m a Professor in Wine Marketing and I use, and cite, some of your materials in courses on ‘Trends in the wine sector’): We’re noticing that critics are often the first to comment and the most frequent posts in response to new on-line content. Given that wine producers are almost always novices in e-media, how do you encourage them to get past those first few difficult steps into the new age? Damien Wilson (WineBusProf)
@wizzardsblog
Don’t try playing Russian Roulett you can die.
Well… never mind, go ahead.
@TheAmericanRifleman Make your own mind up whether you want to watch something, sure recommendations and comments are great. I prefer to try something myself despite negative comments. Then I take comfort in the thought that I made my own mind up.
I would say never apologise for who you are or what you do, everyone’s entitled to their opinion of you whether it be complimentary or hurtful. Got a suggestion to the 2 highly rated comments, watch his other stuff, he hasn’t purposefully tailored his talk to mimic anything, that’s how passionate Gary is. No I’m not kissing his backside. I’ve watched many of his talks. To some he may seem too excited, get past that, a lot he says is common sense, companies just have to wake up and see that.
You the man Coach Gary!
@GaryVaynerchuk Gary it took me a bit to get you i must say when everyone was jazzing on you…but I actually went to to your site today b/c I “wanted to see what Gary was up to”. I like you man. thx.
@soundscapenyc I hate that thats how I came off but I get it, I get to excited and it hurts me in some peoples eyes, I am so sorry Sound and hoep I can apologize in person one day
@rubberbaby00 I am super sorry you feel that way
I really am, I hope we can meet in person one day, i really do
@rubberbaby00 super sorry you felt that way man
sucks, I hope we can meet in person one day!
I have to admit I’ve fallen into the trap of the “show up and throw up” version of internet marketing. In person, I’m very caring, but sometimes online I just spew info. He’s right about so much. It’s a mentality change that needs to happen.
@ConradMcBad – Wrong. The message is “show people that you listen to what they’re saying and that you actually give a crap, and they’re a lot more likely to buy from you later down the road… and in the meantime they’re also more likely to publicly promote your brand, service or product on your behalf”. Big difference.
@rubberbaby00 – Sounds like you are still asleep my friend. Gary just gave you the answers to the test.
@ConradMcBad and when is the last time a major corporation was nice to you?
@mypianoclimbs He says “mobile” (as in mobile phones/cellphones). Mobile is pronounced differently in different English dialects.
This guy could sell the ‘fuck’ out of sham-wow!! He’s kind of like Richard Simmons, only with a less dorky outfit. But, he’s right – rather than spend $10M on a commercial spread, they ought to hire a bunch of $8/hour folks to be twitter friends.
